Post lockdown the new normal is Work From Home (WFH). It is also study-from-home for the kids but we will address that separately.
Noises are plenty at home. Traffic noise, kids-in-the-other-room noise, spouse-calling-for-housework noise, appliances noise, TV noise etc.
You don’t want such intrusive noises annoying that all important video call where your boss is anxious the team makes the right impression to an all important client.
Best is to install an AC, if you do not already have one in your study, and shut all doors and windows to cut off external noises. This is noise isolation.
You also do not want your voice to echo into the laptop mic or the remote voices coming from the laptop speakers to bounce off the hard surfaces of your study. Echo needs sound absorption.
